In anticipation of Hollywood’s 90th annual red carpet event later the same day, the Central Iowa Wind Ensemble brings you a concert of “Award Winning Movies”.  You’ll hear popular themes from past winning or nominated movies.  Joining us for this concert are two amazing guest vocalists: Taylor Anne Weaver and Fred Gazzo.

The Central Iowa Wind Ensemble opens it’s 15th season with our popular children’s concert format. For this performance, we are proud to bring you all things Disney. From A to Z: Aladdin to Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, we will have a medley of tunes for all generations.  We will be joined by a couple special princesses from Little Princess Parties to MC the concert and sing “Let It Go”. In the spirit of Halloween, we also welcome you to come in costume if you like: as a princess, pirate, or anything else.

The Central Iowa Wind Ensemble brings you its season finale Spring Concert featuring an array of classic wind band literature: from Rimsky-Korsakov’s majestic Procession of the Nobles to Grainger’s melodic Colonial Song, the energetic Overture to Candide by Bernstein to a rousing Sousa march and more. The ensemble will also accompany guest trombone soloist, Eli Blay, this year’s winner of CIWE’s annual Student Solo Competition, playing Blue Bells of Scotland.  You’ll be sure to come away from this concert with your spirits lifted.

Enjoy a spectacular afternoon of music as the Central Iowa Wind Ensemble explores nearly six decades of Broadway hits. You’ll be sure to come away with a song or two stuck in your head from musical favorites like: The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Les Misérables, Chicago, Wicked, Hamilton, and more. We will also feature the varied styles of guest vocal artists Robert Patton and Madison Ray on a few of these numbers. Robert Patton is a former member of the US Air Force Singing Sergeants and has soloed with the National Symphony, Boston Pops, Cincinnati Pops, as well as many Iowa ensembles.  Local singer/song-writer, Madison Ray, has performed with the Des Moines Playhouse, Des Moines Metro Opera, and Noce’s current production of Tick, Tick … BOOM!

This FREE, family friendly concert will be held in the historic and beautiful Scottish Rite Consistory Auditorium (519 Park Street, Des Moines). You will not want to miss this one!

The Central Iowa Wind Ensemble opens our 14th season with a family friendly concert for all ages. We are thrilled to share an exciting and varied program on this the eve of Halloween! From movie medleys to concert marches, circus music and a piece where each of you get to name one of the compositions, there’s certain to be music that satisfies everyone’s taste buds.

We also welcome to the stage our special guests, The Heartland Youth Choir’s Cantilena Choir, to enchant us with their voices and join the wind ensemble for a combined group that will fill the beautiful Scottish Rite Consistory Auditorium with some hair-raising melodies.

Children (and adults) are encouraged to where their costumes and will have plenty of time to make it back home for trick-or-treat night.
