The Central Iowa Wind Ensemble concludes their season with the popular Children’s Concert Series. Conduct the band, sing along or march with us! This concert is full of music for children of all ages including the “young at heart”. We will recognize this year’s winner of the Aimee Krug Memorial Student Solo Competition, Elizabeth Hertzberg, as she performs her flute solo with the ensemble. CIWE members Ryan Rowley and Joseph Thering will direct the group for singalongs to The Greatest Showman and Mary Poppins. The trumpet section will take us on an adventure with Bugler’s Holiday. We will honor local heroes in our community with a fitting march conducted by Des Moines Fire Chief, John TeKippe. You will also have a chance after the concert to see a fire truck up close and talk with our fire heroes. This courageous concert will surely inspire young music lovers and older ones alike!

Be sure to show up early at 2:15 pm to enjoy a Q&A session with our interim conductor, Mark Doerffel.

This family friendly event will be held in the historic and beautiful Scottish Rite Consistory Auditorium (519 Park Avenue, Downtown Des Moines). We hope to see you there!
